Ghana poll: Volta Regional Minister James Gunu tops performance ranking

Volta Regional Minister James Gunu has emerged as the best-performing Regional Minister in Ghana, according to the latest September 2026 Global InfoAnalytics poll.

Mr. Gunu topped the national ranking with an impressive 77% performance rating. The comprehensive survey gathered data across all 16 regions of Ghana to track public satisfaction with regional governance.

**The Top Performing Regions** According to the poll results, the top five positions are held by:

- Volta Region (VR): Hon. James Gunu – 77%. - Western Region (WR): 72%. - Northern Region (NR): 70%. - Bono East Region (BER): 68%. - Oti Region (OR): 66%.

The Ashanti Region (AR) closely followed the top tier, securing a 65% approval rating from its residents.

**Mid-Tier and Bottom Rankings**

The national average performance score across all 16 regional ministers stands at 58%. More than half of the ministers fell near or below this national average. The mid-tier rankings include:

Regions scoring below the 50% threshold include the North East (46%), Brong Ahafo (45%), Upper West (39%), and Savannah (38%). The Western North Region (WNR) recorded the lowest rating in the country, finishing at the bottom of the list with 33%.

**How the Survey Was Conducted** Global InfoAnalytics stated that the research was carried out between September 1 and September 22, 2026. The poll sampled 8,951 Ghanaian citizens aged 16 and older, representing all 16 regions of the country. On a national level, public sentiment leaned positive. Ten percent of the public rated their regional leader's performance as "Excellent," while 48% gave a rating of "Very Good" or "Good". Meanwhile, 12% rated them as "Average" and 24% labeled their performance as "Poor" or "Very Poor".

The final performance scores were calculated by taking the total positive ratings (Excellent, Very Good, and Good) and subtracting the negative responses (Poor and Very Poor). Neutral opinions were excluded from the final metrics.
